Incorporated in 2003, Amica Helping Hands is a registered Canadian charity. Its mandate is to support underprivileged Canadian seniors in need.
Every December, Amica Helping Hands prepares baskets filled to the brim with non-perishable foods, a warm blanket and gift certificates for local grocery stores and pharmacies. The gift baskets are then delivered to low income seniors with the assistance of local charities. Most recipients of the baskets live alone and in poverty. This basket will be the only gift many seniors will receive over the holidays and throughout the year.
In addition to the basket program, Amica Helping Hands supports the work of not-for-profit organizations across Canada that assist seniors in need by providing these organizations with funds for initiatives that improve the quality of life of the seniors they serve.
Amica residents and team members fundraise all year at our Amica communities. In addition, Amica corporate office organizes an annual fundraising event for Helping Hands.

Submit a Request for Funding
Each year the Amica Helping Hands charity donates funds to local organizations helping seniors in need. The recipients will be selected by the Board of Directors of Amica Helping Hands based on written submissions and interviews with applicant organizations. Successful applicants will receive up to $50,000 to fund a project that will support underprivileged seniors in their area.
Amica Helping Hands Fundraising Event
Our 2017 fundraising event was held on November 2, 2017 at the Omni King Edward hotel in Toronto. This amazing evening raised $584,500 for seniors in need. We would not have been so successful in assisting so many Canadian seniors living with low incomes without the generosity of our sponsors.
The money raised supported our annual basket campaign, which sent 2,400 baskets valued at $125 each to seniors in need across Canada. Each basket was filled with items such as a warm blanket; scarves or mittens lovingly knitted by our Amica residents; toiletries; and gift cards to grocery stores. At our 2018 event, we will announce the worthy recipients of grants from Amica Helping Hands.
Our 2018 event will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the Omni King Edward Hotel.
