Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps – Served 2 years

Beatrice was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps. After training at the University of Toronto, Beatrice was stationed in Nanaimo, British Columbia and in New Brunswick.

She served as an Occupational Therapist, helping soldiers adapt to their injuries. She remembers having to learn how to make use of “odd” supplies like Ivory soap and leather belts, in order to help the soldiers.

During her 2 years of service, Beatrice developed pneumonia and at one point her General thought she had gone AWOL.
