How We Are Responding To COVID-19

These are unprecedented times. Since the start of this global outbreak so much has changed. One thing that will not change is our commitment to you. Our number one priority is the health and safety of our residents, their families and our employees.

Ever since we first learned of the novel coronavirus, we have implemented a number of proactive measures at our residences to minimize the risk to our residents. Our staff has been well prepared, putting into place our strong infection control and management protocols. As well, we are in constant communication with local public health officials and continue to adhere to all the guidelines and directives set forth by provincial and regional health authorities. We have closed resident common areas, suspended group activities and are allowing only visitors to see a loved one who is nearing end of life, among many other measures.

We will be continually updating this information as it becomes available. We are committed to being here for our residents, their families and our team members as together we fight this virus.

An Interview with our CEO

May 26, 2020 – As provinces begin to relax some of their COVID-19 protective measures, we have fielded many questions from Amica residents and families about whether we will change our own protective protocols. We asked award-winning Canadian communicator Amanda Alvaro to moderate a Q&A discussion with Amica CEO Doug MacLatchy, where Doug answered direct questions from Amica residents and families on Amica’s plans for operating safety until such time as a COVID-19 treatment or vaccine is available.
